9.4* Content Analytics
Updated today
Content Analytics shows how students performed on a published practice test or problem set, from the whole cohort down to a single question. It lives on the assessment's Overview tab, under the How students performed heading.
Open the analytics
The analytics appear on the Overview tab of any published or archived practice test or problem set.
Open the program, then click Practice Tests (or Problem Sets) in the program menu.
Open a published or archived assessment.
On the Overview tab, scroll to How students performed.
Until students complete the assessment, the section shows No results yet and the note that insights appear once students complete the test.
What counts in the data
The analytics count each student's first complete attempt. Retakes, walkouts, and ended tests are left out.
Practice tests: a first attempt counts when it was submitted or expired, at least 15 minutes of active time were spent, and at least five answers were given in every section (or all planned answers in a shorter section).
Problem sets: a first attempt counts when it was submitted with at least one answer.
Question rows need at least 5 students; questions seen by fewer are hidden from the list.
Cohort summary
The summary tiles show the Mean score, Median score, the maximum score on the test's scale, and the Average time students spent (active time). Scaled-score practice tests also show Answered correctly, the average share of points earned.
When benchmark data is available, the mean, median, and correctness figures show how your students compare, such as Same as all students or an amount above or below all students.
The summary labels the sample Reliable sample at 50 or more cohort attempts and Small sample below 50.
Score distribution
The distribution table lists score ranges with the Score range, the number of Students, and the Pctl (percentile). Select or deselect ranges to see how many students and what share of the cohort scored in each. Edge ranges may be marked perfect or floor.
Percentile lookup
Enter a score in the percentile lookup to see what percentile it lands at among the cohort. The lookup accepts only scores within the scale's minimum and maximum that match its step.
Section performance
Section performance appears when the assessment has more than one section, or a section has multiple branches. It shows each section's average share of points and average time. For multi-branch sections, Routing shows the share of students on each branch.
Skills to review
This panel lists up to five skills with the lowest share of correct answers, each with its question count and correct-answer percentage. It is hidden when fewer than two skills have data.
Question insights
The Question insights list shows per-question results for every question seen by at least 5 students, and you select a question to read it. Summary tiles flag:
Very difficult - questions 30% or fewer of students answered correctly.
Strong distractors - questions where a wrong answer drew at least 25% of students.
Slowest question - the question with the highest average time.
Each row shows the Question, Skill, Answered correctly percentage and student count, the Most-picked wrong answer with its share, and Avg time. A question carries an Often skipped badge when at least 20% of responses were unanswered.
The list sorts Hardest first by default; switch to Test order to follow the assessment's own sequence. It starts with 10 rows, and Show more adds 20 at a time.
Read a single question
Click a row to open the question sheet. It shows the percent answered correctly, the student count, the average time, and, when there is one, the most-picked wrong option with its percentage, along with the full question content and passage.
For a deeper per-question breakdown, such as option-selection bars, answer changes, and tool usage, open a student report's Insights panel. This is covered in Student Analytics.
Choose the cohort
When both cohorts are available, the Students to show selector switches between Your students and All EdisonOS students. The all-students view is benchmark data, and it powers the comparisons shown while you look at your own students.
