9.3* Student Analytics
Updated today
The student analytics report covers one student's full practice test attempt: overall and per-module scores, pacing, skill performance, every response, and the complete session log. Open it from a program's Reports page by clicking View Report on a submitted test.
Accessing a Report
Open the program, then click Reports in the program menu.
On the Practice Test tab, find the student's attempt and click View Report.
View Report appears only on completed attempts that have a report; rows still in progress or paused show a status badge instead. The list columns are Student Name, Practice Test, Started, Submitted, Duration, Raw Score, and Scaled Score. Filtering the list is covered in Program Reports.
Report header
The header shows the test name, the student, Started At, Submitted At, and Assigned by. When the student has more than one attempt, Select attempt switches between them. The copy link action copies a link to a public summary of the report. The header also provides options to Export PDF, Export Attempt Data, and Regenerate Report.
Overview tab
The Overview tab opens by default and summarizes the whole attempt. Sections appear only when the report has data for them.
Test Summary
The Overall Summary card opens the tab. It shows:
Score - Shows the student's scaled score out of 1600 along with score percentage.
Accuracy Percentage - Shows the percentage of attempted questions answered correctly along with raw score.
Total Time Spent - active time on the test, with an average-per-question figure when available.
Target Score - Shows the student's target score, if one has been set.
Percentile - shown only when percentile data exists, for example 72nd Percentile.
Total Questions - a stacked bar of Correct, Incorrect, Skipped, and Unvisited counts.
Section-Wise Performance
Performance is split into Reading & Writing and Math.
Each section card shows:
Accuracy, time spent, and question totals, with status breakdowns (Correct, Incorrect, Skipped, Unvisited)
Adaptive path taken (e.g., Baseline Section → Adaptive Upper)
Question breakdown with a visual progress bar
Answer Changes
Tracks how the student revised answers during the attempt:
Correct to Incorrect - Often signals overthinking.
Incorrect to Correct - Effective review.
Incorrect to Incorrect - Suggests guessing or content gaps.
Performance by Difficulty
Separate cards for Easy, Medium, and Hard questions, each showing Score Percentage (points earned out of points possible), Time Taken, and an average-per-question figure. Show Detailed Analytics expands each card with Correct, Incorrect, Skipped, and Unvisited counts plus answer-change counts.
This view exposes pacing patterns: a student scoring higher on Hard than Medium is often rushing through questions they assume are easy.
Performance by Time
Bucket cards show how outcomes depend on time spent per question:
Time per question | Label | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
0-10s | Blind Guess | Too fast to read. Likely panic or giving up. |
11-40s | Rushed | Speed-reading risk. |
41-90s | Ideal | Where strong performance shows up. |
91-150s | Deep Dive | Methodical. Good for hard questions. |
150s+ | Time Sink | May indicate difficulty. |
Each card shows a breakdown of Correct, Incorrect, and Skipped questions in that range, so you can tell whether mistakes come from rushing, overthinking, or content gaps.
Performance by Custom Tag
A table grouping results by your custom tags, with Custom tag, Score, Points, Questions, Correct, Incorrect, Skipped, and Unvisited columns. A question with several tags appears in each matching group.
Skill Snapshot
Two ranked lists: Top Strong Skills and Top Skills to Improve. Each row shows the skill, a percentage bar, and points earned out of points possible.
Reading & Writing / Math Overview
One tab per module, named after the module (for the SAT, Reading & Writing and Math), breaks that module down in detail.
Module summary
The card shows the module's scaled score when one is available (for an SAT module, out of 800), falling back to the raw score otherwise, plus Accuracy Percentage and Total Time Spent.
Score Breakdown
One card per section in delivery order, each showing Accuracy Percentage, Time Taken, Total Questions with a status bar, and an average-per-question figure.
The same Easy, Medium, and Hard cards as the overview, scoped to this module, alongside the module's Answer Changes and Performance by Custom Tag tables.
Skill-Difficulty Heatmap
A Domain to Skill table where each cell shows points earned out of points possible, a percentage, and a performance band:
Strong - 80% and above
Needs Practice - 40% to 79%
Needs Improvement - below 40%
Columns are Easy, Medium, Hard, and Overall. Hover a cell for question counts and time details. When the module has more than one section, a dropdown (with an All option) scopes the heatmap to one section.
Performance by Time
A per-question time chart plotting Time Spent (green/red bars for correct/incorrect) against Average Time (blue line) for every question in the section.
Toggle between three views in the top right:
Time Pacing Chart — Distribution view (grouped by pacing buckets)
Time Chart — Per-question detail (shown above)
Single Clock Chart
Hover any bar to see the exact time spent vs. average. Spikes above the average line indicate questions where the student lingered; bars well below suggest rushing.
Student Response Review Tab
This tab shows how the student answered every question, as a table or one question at a time.
Table View
Each row is one question, with columns for # (Question Number), Response (Student Response), Operational / Field, Module, Domain, Skill, Type, Difficulty, Time Spent, Tools Used, and Answer Change. Field questions are unscored in score conversion.
Section Filter
When the test has more than one section, a dropdown offers All Sections plus one option per section, each showing its question count. A filter menu can also narrow the table by Status, Time Spent, Answer Changes, Tools Used, Difficulty, Domain, Skill, Marked for Review, and Field Question.
Detailed Question View
The detailed view opens by default and shows the passage, question, answer options, grading status, time spent, and tags for module, domain, skill, type, and difficulty.
The Question Navigator on the right lists every question with color-coded status (Correct, Incorrect, Skipped, Unvisited) and jumps between them, grouped by section when there is more than one.
Toolbar Icons
The toggles above the question control what is visible:
Response - show the student's answer (on by default)
Answer - show the correct answer
Solution - show the explanation, when one exists
Feedback - feedback on answer options
Annotations - show notes the student made during the test
View Insights
The Insights panel compares how all students performed on the current question with how this student did. Question benchmark shows cohort Accuracy and Avg. time, option-selection percentages, and Correct first / Correct after changes rates.
Answer changes shows the three change categories plus an overall changed-answer percentage, and Behavior & tools shows revisits, review marks, eliminator use, and highlights and notes.
A More detail card holds outcome percentages, option movement, and generated observations. Insights appear once enough eligible responses are available.
Activity Log
The Activity panel is a timestamped timeline of this student's events on the selected question: when they landed, every answer update, and when they left.
Report Question
The Report Question action opens Report an Issue, where you pick a type (None of the Options are Correct, Typo Error, Question and Solution are Confusing, Infographics or Equations Incorrect or Missing, or Other), describe the problem, and submit it for review.
Session Logs Tab
This tab is the complete activity trail of the attempt.
Session summary
A summary card shows a verdict with Break taken, Tab switches, Fullscreen exits, and when the session Ended. Integrity badges flag tab switches and fullscreen exits.
Session activity log
The activity log lists every recorded event with a count. Events are grouped into Before the first section, one group per section, and Submission, and each row shows the time offset, severity, event label, and detail.
Filters
Three presets scope the log: Flags only, Key events, and All. An Event type menu filters by Session, Section, Answer, Review, Navigation, Timer, Connectivity, Tools, Integrity, System, Annotations, and Other. This log is the place to investigate integrity concerns or reconstruct exactly how a session unfolded.
