How to Allow Students to Save & Resume a Test Later

This article helps you enable the Allow Resume feature so your students can pause a test midway, save their progress, and return later to finish exactly where they left off with every answer preserved. Whether a student runs out of time, needs a break, or gets interrupted, this setting ensures their hard work is never lost.
The Idea Behind It
Not every student can complete a full-length test in one sitting and that's perfectly okay. Life happens: schedules shift, energy dips, interruptions arise. The Allow Resume setting gives students the freedom to test on their own terms without the pressure of "finish it now or lose it all." When you turn it on while assigning a test, you're handing students a safety net that lets them focus on doing their best, one session at a time.
Steps to Enable Save & Resume
1. Open your program
In the left menu, select your program (for example, SAT or ACT), then click Practice Tests.
2. Locate the test
Find the test you want to assign and click the Assign button.
3. Choose your assignment method
Select how you'd like to assign the test, Assign to My Students or Assign via Invitation Link.
4. Open Advanced Settings
Scroll down and expand Advanced Settings. This section is available in both assignment methods.
5. Turn on Allow Resume
Under Test Behavior, toggle on Allow Resume. This lets students save their progress and continue the test later.
6. Finish assigning
Click Assign Practice Test to complete the process.
What This Means for Students
With Allow Resume enabled, students can pause a test whenever they need to, save their progress, and return to finish it later continuing from the exact point they stopped, with all their previous answers intact.
