10.1 Roles & Permissions

There are three roles within the EdisonOS Academy App: Owner, Admin, and Tutor. Each role comes with a different level of access and responsibility.

Owner

The Owner is the highest level of access in an academy. The Owner role is automatically assigned to the person who creates the academy by transitioning from the Console App to the Academy App for the first time.

What an Owner can do:

  • Access all programs, reports, and settings across the academy.

  • Enroll and unenroll Admins, Students, and Tutors.

  • Assign and remove programs from any user.

  • Manage billing, credits, and licenses in the Console App.

  • Perform every action available to Admins.

There is only one Owner per academy. If ownership needs to transfer. For example, if the original account holder leaves the organisation, Kindly contact EdisonOS support to arrange the transition. Do not share Owner login credentials as a workaround.

Admin

Admins are team members invited by the Owner to help manage the academy. An Admin has nearly the same level of access as the Owner within the Academy App, making this the appropriate role for staff who actively run programs day-to-day.

What an Admin can do:

  • Enroll and manage Students across programs.

  • Assign practice tests and problem sets to students.

  • Manage tutors (once the Tutor feature is available).

  • Access reports and analytics for their assigned programs.

  • Operate within the programs they have been granted access to at the time of enrollment.

When enrolling an Admin, you select which programs they have access to (e.g., SAT only, or SAT and ACT). An Admin can only assign tests and manage students within their designated programs. Assign programs thoughtfully based on each team member's responsibilities.

Tutor

Coming Soon - The Tutor role is currently under development and is not yet available on the platform. Once released, Tutors will have a defined set of permissions suited to instructional staff rather than administrators. An update will be provided when this role goes live.

Admins cannot enroll other Admins only the Owner can do that. If you need to add a new team member with Admin access, the Owner must complete the enrollment.
